If you’ve succumbed to overplucking at some point or have experienced hair loss, the best eyebrow growth serums can help you get some thickness back—no painful microblading necessary. “Similar to lash serums, over-the-counter eyebrow growth serums can be helpful for growing longer, and thicker eyebrow hair,” Dustin Portela, DO, a board-certified dermatologist in Idaho, tells Glamour.

To help you find the formulas that dermatologists say actually work, we asked experts for their recommendations, then tapped our editorial team and a group of at-home testers to try them out. During evaluations, we reviewed ingredient lists, plus took notes on ease of use and overall efficacy. Unsurprisingly, our top pick is Latisse, the only FDA-approved treatment, but there were plenty of OTC options that yielded surprisingly good results, too, like Revitabrow, which Glamour's commerce director said offered noticeable results in less than a month.

Do eyebrow growth serums really work?

Over-the-counter brow growth serums really do work, but they need to be used consistently over many weeks to months, says Dr. Portela. The most effective option for regrowth is a prescription product called Latisse, but if a doctor’s visit is out of the question, OTC beauty products containing the right ingredients (plus a little bit of patience) will also do the trick. Look for a prostaglandin or prostaglandin analog such as bimatoprost, which is found in the prescription-strength formula Latisse, or isopropyl cloprostenate, which is like what you’d find in GrandeLash, says Geeta Yadav, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Facet Dermatology. Both of these active ingredients encourage hair growth, but other notable ingredients in a formulation include peptides and amino acids to directly support brow growth and hyaluronic acid or vitamin E to hydrate and protect the skin, says Dr. Portela.

What grows eyebrows the fastest?

While there's no overnight solution, you can expect to see results anywhere from one month to three months, depending on the product and its ingredients.

Ro

Latisse has one big advantage over its competitors: It’s the only FDA-approved treatment for fuller or thicker lashes—and it works on your brows too. It’s powered by bimatoprost, a prostaglandin analog that extends the hair’s growth cycle. The drawback is that you have to see a health care provider for a prescription, but you can do so virtually on a platform like Ro.

It’s easy to use—simply add a drop of the solution onto a provided applicator wand and brush it on your lashes, then brush any remaining solution onto your brows. Our testers are big fans, noting fuller and darker brows within just a few weeks. “I used to color my light brown brows every day, but they’ve become much darker in just three weeks,” says Glamour contributor Brigitt Earley. “The whole process has been really simple to incorporate into my before-bed routine too.”

Recommended by multiple dermatologists, this hero serum—available OTC from the makers of GrandeLash—contains the coveted prostaglandin analog for boosting hair growth. It also has hyaluronic acid, to condition brow hairs, and L Proline, an amino acid that helps fortify hair follicles, says Claire Wolinsky, MD, a board-certified dermatologist at Spring Street Dermatology in NYC.

“After years of tweezing and waxing and getting older, my natural brows stopped growing, making it difficult to get a fuller shape,” says Jenneane Rocha, an esthetician in Sacramento. “With daily use, this serum completely rehabbed my eyebrows, and now I recommend it to all of my clients.”

Dermatologists agree that #BeautyTok may be onto something with this product. Though it may be budget-friendly, this formula is effective for both long lashes and thicker brows, because it contains an array of four different peptides—including myristoyl pentapeptide-17—designed to support hair growth, says Dr. Portela.

Users say it works so well that they have to take a break after six weeks of consistent use. “The results from using this serum were nothing short of remarkable,” says Sarah Roberts, a licensed beauty and skin care consultant. “My lashes exhibited incredible growth and improved density. Plus, I liked the serum’s lightweight, nonsticky formula.” In tests, we found it was also one of the best options for those with sensitive skin.

This formula is another star OTC pick that includes a prostaglandin analog (like what you’d find in Latisse), as well as saw palmetto and a biopeptin complex—two ingredients that help strengthen and condition hair follicles, says Dr. Wolinsky. It’s a great pick for sensitive skin, too, since the brow gel is hypoallergenic and nonirritating, as well as vegan and cruelty-free.

“The wand makes this serum super easy to apply, and it worked pretty quickly. It definitely filled in spots where my brows were having a hard time growing on their own,” says Jordin Bjelland, a makeup artist from Montana. “I began to see results after about four weeks of daily use, but it felt like six weeks was the sweet spot.” Glamour’s commerce director, Brie Schwartz, adds that she saw results after three weeks of consistent use. “My brows have always been sparse, but this product, which is super simple to apply, made them fuller. I was honestly impressed. Though we’re not talking full ’90s brows, I’ll take the small change! The only thing to watch out for is that if you apply it sloppily, you’ll get some extra growth right outside of your brow line, so be patient when you put it on.”

Proteins, peptides, and vitamins? Check, check, and check. This brow-boosting serum includes all of the ingredients dermatologists say you need for fuller, healthier-looking brows—and the brand claims you’ll get them in just 30 days. Our testers support these claims—one even said they saw results in as little as two weeks.

“Another product that’s delivered, after a month of use, it helps me look like I’ve used an eyebrow pencil,” says Schwartz. “You do have to keep it with it (once I ran out and stopped using it, brow life went back to normal), but it totally works and it couldn’t be easier to apply—simply swipe all over the area, no precision needed. I also like that it works like a brow shaper so it’s a great first step before filling in with a pencil.”

This powerful eyebrow growth serum is more affordable than most but has a trio of proteins to strengthen follicles, peptides to encourage new growth, and conditioners to nourish hair.

Users say it works quickly too. Our tester, a victim of the ’90s thin-eyebrow trend, said she used the serum religiously for two months and saw massive growth that made her eyebrows look as dense as they once had been. “I had tried everything to no avail, but RapidBrow was a total game-changer,” they told Glamour.

Vegamour

Thanks to Vegamour, natural beauty stans can reap the brow-boosting benefits of serums. It may be formulated with only clean, vegan ingredients, but users say it really works. And derms tell Glamour they like that it’s packed with nourishing and stimulating ingredients such as active phytomolecules, biotin, and zinc.

“I bought this because I had once plucked my eyebrows pencil thin. After just a few weeks, my eyebrows are visibly thicker,” says one user, who says she chose the product because it goes on clear and didn’t run the risk of tinting her skin.

It may be exceptionally pricey, but this product has a special claim to fame: It’s formulated with the brand’s patented TFC8 technology. According to the brand, this helps skin cells absorb and use the serum’s key hair-growth-boosting nutrients: arginine, taurine, castor oil, and hyaluronic acid.

“I didn’t want the hassle of a prescription, so I opted for this one after reading a ton of reviews,” says one user. “I love how easy it is to use and that I can use it as an eyelash growth serum too. After just a few weeks, my brows were darker and denser and my lashes longer.”
