Lauren Clark, owner of Vintage Peach Beauty Salon in Pawtucket, holds her award for salon decor during the two-day Rainbow Convention in New York.
PAWTUCKET – After attending the Rainbow Convention in Schenectady, New York on Nov. 2, Vintage Peach Hair Salon owner Lauren Clark returned to Pawtucket with new techniques for coloring and styling vivid hair and an award for “Best Decor” at her salon. She said she couldn’t be more excited.
The convention, which provides educational workshops and awards celebrating vivid hair and the stylists who create it, is well-known throughout the hair industry and Clark is proud that the vision for her salon, located at 999 Main St., Suite 704, Pawtucket, has been seen and celebrated.
The Vintage Peach salon personifies vivid hair and a zest for life, with its bright colors and shades along the walls, which also have murals on them painted by Clark, who is an artist.
“It’s always a beautiful day in here,” Clark told The Breeze during a visit.
“Most of my clients that I serve are mothers, and I’m a mother myself, so I really wanted to provide a space where they can come, since a lot of women don’t really get support from their families, and they may not get support from their husbands. So this is a safe space for anyone to come and just express themselves authentically, with zero judgment.”
Along with the award, Clark got to learn a lot from other stylists in the industry, particularly from SydneyAnnLopez Hair, which taught a class on designing shapes into hair and coloring rainbows inside the shapes, a technique that Clark is looking forward to trying out as a vivid specialist who does rainbow hair coloring.
She also got a new color line from the convention, which she considers special since it was put together by an actual artist instead of a brand.
“Out of like the entire population of hairdressers globally, only 10 percent specialize in fantasy hair, which I was shocked to hear,” Clark said.

The convention also nominated two other Pawtucket stylists for awards during the two-day event held on Nov. 2 and Nov. 3.
Clark considers herself a people person who has really grown to love Pawtucket and the supportive business community she is part of.
“I am close friends with a lot of Pawtucket-owned businesses, which is great,” she said, including Stone Lotus Tattoo, for whom Clark recently donated to a raffle and Top Shelf Vintage Co, who always reaches out to Clark to see if she needs any decor and sends new clients her way.
“It’s nice because we’re just a close-knit community of other business owners,” she added. “I love being in Pawtucket and I love being in this building.”
In the corridor where Vintage Peach sits within The Hope Artiste Village, Clark said she is surrounded by all-women businesses, which she is proud to be part of.
Vintage Peach has been at Hope Artiste Village for about a year, after starting in Clark’s home in Attleboro, Mass., after the pandemic.
“When everyone got the green light to reopen again, I decided not to return to the salon I was working at in Boston because I had two small children and was nervous about the pandemic,” she said.
Clark began with no clients on her roster but accepted friends and family for appointments, with the intent to keep others going during the difficult time.
“When women let their hair go, it’s a, if you don’t look good, you don’t feel good kind of thing,” she said.
From there, the business took off and moved to the Pawtucket Armory, which Clark said she absolutely loved. She also moved from Attleboro to Cumberland two years ago and said she is happy to be closer to her salon.
“I kind of just fell in love with Pawtucket,” she said. “I feel like it’s revitalized a little bit, and it’s kind of in that in-between now, where it’s on its way to being built up, and I just really want to be part of that.”
