Oct 11, 202310 Best Eyebrow Growth Serums That Actually Work, According to Dermatologists
By Brigitt Earley
The best eyebrow growth serum works harder than you think—especially if you’ve succumbed to overplucking at some point in your life (anyone else a ’90s baby?). Overzealous tweezing, grooming, and shaping of the brows can actually cause trauma and inflammation in the hair follicle—both of which can result in slowed-down growth. But thankfully there's a solution: "Like lash serums, over-the-counter eyebrow growth serums can be helpful for growing longer, and thicker eyebrow hair," says Dustin Portela, DO, a board-certified dermatologist in Idaho.
The real miracle worker is a prescription product called Latisse, but if OTC products contain the right ingredients, they’ll also do the trick. You just need to be patient. "They work best when used consistently over many weeks to months," says Dr. Portela.
As for what ingredients to look for, Geeta Yadav, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Facet Dermatology recommends keeping an eye out for "a prostaglandin or prostaglandin analog, like bimatoprost in the prescription-strength formula Latisse, or isopropyl cloprostenate, like what you’d find in GrandeLash," both of which encourages hair growth. Other notable ingredients in a formulation include peptides and amino acids to support brow growth, and hyaluronic acid or vitamin E to hydrate and protect the skin, says Dr. Portela.
To help you find the most promising formulas—meaning, the ones that actually work to give you those fuller, bushier brows—we asked dermatologists to recommend their favorites, plus we cherry-picked the most highly rated and well-reviewed options from top retailers.

This star OTC pick includes a prostaglandin analog (like what you’d find in Latisse), as well as saw palmetto and a biopeptin complex—two ingredients that help strengthen and condition hair follicles, says Claire Wolinsky, MD, a board-certified dermatologist at Spring Street Dermatology in NYC.
What reviewers say: I’m a brow artist. I’ve tried every brow serum under the sun to grow back my over-tweezed ’90s brows. This product is magical. It grew back bald spots I’ve had since 1997! I’ve recommended it to many of my clients, and it's also worked wonderfully for them as well, all ages. Forget tattooing, try this serum! —reviewer on Dermstore

Another favorite of Dr. Wolinsky's (and just about every other dermatologist we spoke to) is this hero serum from GrandeLash; the formula contains the coveted prostaglandin analog for boosting hair growth. It also has hyaluronic acid to condition brows and L Proline, an amino acid that helps fortify hair follicles.
What reviewers say: I am almost 50 and my brows were getting super sparse between aging and the whole ’90s super-skinny brow trend. I was just kind of desperate to try anything and decided to give this a shot. Seven weeks in and even my sister remarked on how thick they were. Now I am to the point that I have to go get them shaped, because they are getting too full and a little uneven/unruly because I wasn't super precise in application until I actually started seeing results. This is SO good!! —reviewer on Sephora

It may not contain any prostaglandin, but this formula does have an ingredient called myristoyl pentapeptide-17 that's credited with stimulating keratin genes, says Dr. Wolinsky. It's a great pick for anyone with sensitive skin—it's cruelty-free and vegan, plus made in small batches with naturally derived ingredients in the US.
What reviewers say: WOW is all I can say. My mom bought me the brow serum for my birthday last December, and the results in just three months alone have been incredible. I have always had very blonde, thin brows and had major brow envy of everyone. I tried micro blading and I didn't love it. I thought I would be wedded to dip-brow and penciling for the rest of my life. But no! Now I can enjoy my natural brows because of Nulastin! I’ll admit I was skeptical, but this stuff really works miracles! I even have enough brow hairs now that I got them laminated the other weekend and they look awesome! I can't recommend this stuff enough. —reviewer on Amazon
It may be budget-friendly, but this formula is definitely worth considering, says Dr. Portela. That's because it contains an array of four different peptides—including myristoyl pentapeptide-17—designed to support hair growth.
What reviewers say: I’m 53, so my brows were getting thinner as they do with age. I didn't have high hopes, but I was totally impressed! I didn't even use it every day—just when I remembered, and I saw a night and day improvement. —reviewer on Sephora

Prostaglandins and prostaglandin analogs may be effective, but they do come with some risk, says Dr. Yadav. If you’re concerned about any potential side effects, including redness or hyperpigmentation, look for formulas with a combination of peptides, keratin, and vitamin B5 instead—all of these ingredients support gentle, healthier hair growth.
What reviewers say: I’ve been using this product consistently for approximately two and a half months. My eyebrows grew in length so much, I had to trim them every three to four weeks! —reviewer on Sephora

Take this powerful product as proof that you don't have to spend a pretty penny on a great eyebrow growth serum. This one is more affordable than most, but it has a trio of proteins to strengthen follicles, peptides to encourage new growth, and conditioners to nourish hair.
What reviewers say: I have tried all of the eyebrow serums out there, but this one is the best!! I suffer from the ’90s thin-eyebrow trend, and I have tried everything to make them grow back. This serum is so easy to apply and it works! It's not sticky or lumpy like some others, and I saw results in a week!! —reviewer on Ulta

Get more bang for your buck with this two-in-one serum that targets both lashes and brows. It's packed with plant peptides proven to increase lash length and improve brow density, says Jaimie DeRosa, MD, a double-board-certified facial plastic surgeon and founder of the DeRosa Center in Boston and Palm Beach. It also features a more unique ingredient—hemp-derived cannabis seed extract—to hydrate and condition at the same time.
What reviewers say: This product has brought back brow hair that I haven't been able to regrow in 10+ years. The outer corners of my brows were sparse due to years of waxing, overplucking, and thyroid issues, but this product really impressed me like none other has. It has filled in my brows so much that I no longer have to draw in the ends of my brows. —reviewer on Sephora

Proteins, peptides, and vitamins? Check, check, and check. This brow-boosting serum includes all of the ingredients dermatologists say you need for fuller, healthier-looking brows. And the brand claims you’ll get them in just 30 days.
What reviewers say: I am a victim of the thin-eyebrows trend. I thought about microblading for a long time, but scared of the procedure. I did research on brow serums, and many sites mentioned Neubrow. My brows looked better in 2 weeks. I’ve been using it for two months now, and for the first time in years, I feel comfortable leaving the house without filling in my brows. —reviewer on Nordstrom

Natural beauty fans can reap brow-boosting benefits of serums too. It may be formulated with only clean, vegan ingredients, but reviewers say it really works. Derms say that's because it's packed with nourishing and stimulating ingredients like active phytomolecules, biotin, and zinc.
What reviewers say: After a few weeks, my eyebrows are visibly thicker. I bought this because the ’00s had us shaping our eyebrows pencil thin, and I really want the thicker contemporary look. This is really helpful, and my aesthetician noticed the growth also! —reviewer on Sephora

It may be exceptionally pricey, but this product has a special claim to fame. It's formulated with the brand's patented TFC8 technology, which helps skin cells absorb and use the serum's key hair-growth-boosting nutrients: arginine, taurine, castor oil, and hyaluronic acid. Make it go the extra mile by applying the serum to your lashes too.
What reviewers say: This serum is great! The brush too! Easy to apply with brows and lashes with the same applicator! The formula was gentle enough for me. And I have visibly darker brows and lashes, and growth to both. —reviewer on Sephora
