Days after becoming a red-crystal-encrusted meme, Doja Cat has debuted another eye-catching look: eyelashes as eyebrows. And mustache. And soul patch.
The musician attended the Paris Fashion Week Viktor & Rolf show in a structured pinstripe suit and frilly shirt, but it's not her androgynous outfit that caught attention. Instead, it's the feathery fake lashes affixed to her face to give the appearance of…well, to give an appearance.
See for yourself:
The blue-tinted shades are sending me to the moon.
She accessorized the look with earrings including a dangling cross, giving her the overall appearance of Prince's cousin, Duke, a character I just made up.
Do you see it? I see it.
The move was greeted with amusement by fans, who commented on Doja's Instagram post. "It's camp!! Doja is committed to a look and will wear it with conviction for sure 👏🏾," wrote one. "Well here's the lashes y’all asked for- happy now?" added another. Yes, very happy, thank you.
Okay, okay, let's take it seriously for a moment: She used a product designed for and marketed to women—false eyelashes—to give herself the facial hair associated with men. Makeup's transformative power exists across the gender spectrum and works in every direction, and one need not sacrifice femininity to take on a masculine visage, or vice versa. The two faces of Janus cannot exist without each other.
Achieving this effect seems significantly less time-intensive than Doja Cat's previous look, which required the application of 30,000 Swarovski crystals. "Collaborating with the incomparably talented Doja Cat and Daniel Roseberry was an absolute pleasure," legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath said of the instantly buzzed-about style. "Her patience and dedication as she sat with Team Pat McGrath and I for four hours and 58 minutes to achieve the creation, covered in over 30,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals, was truly inspiring." You could just say five hours, but we take your point.
Lashes as brows is also, one would assume, much cheaper. I can imagine youngsters at a sleepover playing around with falsies and glue and getting basically the same result. Shame Halloween isn't for another nine months; this would be a great last-minute costume:

Stay weird as heck, Doja Cat!
